Eating well is an important part of a successful vacation. A rich variety of interesting eateries are found in the Big Bend, but many are not open daily to serve all three meals. The evening meal is served in almost all locations, but there are fewer options for breakfast and lunch. Plan ahead!




You can find a variety of good things to eat in Marathon, from fine cowboy cuisine to tasty Tex-Mex.

Study Butte

The Terlingua/Study Butte area offers a wide variety of restaurants, eclectic bars, and places to sit back and enjoy good food and beautiful scenery. Opening hours may vary, especially in slow times, so its a good idea to call ahead to confirm.


Historic Terlingua, aka "The Ghostown" has several excellent choices for dining, breakfast, lunch and dinner. Enjoy the historic atmosphere and the outstanding views.

Big Bend National Park

Relax in the amazing Chisos Mountains while eating lunch or an early dinner. Fresh Mountain air and great food go really well together.


Boquillas is a small village in Mexico that sits on the Eastern side of Big Bend National Park. The crossing to Boquillas opened on April 10 and as of June 10, 2013, there are two restaurants in Boquillas and one bar in Boquillas.

The Big Bend is named for the vast curve of the Rio Grande in remote southwest Texas. It is a wildly beautiful natural region, with a complex and fascinating history.
