West Texas grew up around the train, and the train still delivers visitors to Big Bend. Your vacation begins as soon as you take a seat in the city of origin. Please double check with AMTRAK as times may change and schedules sometimes run behind.

Passenger Train Service to Big Bend

Amtrak’s Sunset Limitedruns through Alpine 3 days per week running each way:  New Orleans, Houston and San Antonio from the east; Los Angeles, Tucson, and El Paso from the west.  Please note that AMTRAK frequently runs behind schedule. If you can  allow  extra time and be  flexible the train is an extremely rewarding way to see the countryside on the way to Big Bend.

From Houston, the train leaves bound for Alpine on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 6:55 pm
From San Antonio:  Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday at 2:45 am
