Terlingua Ghost Town Lodging
Ghost Town Casitas

Ghost Town Casitas is a small collection of privately owned casitas located on Ivey Road inside historic Terlingua, only minutes from the western entrance of Big Bend National Park. The property sits within walking distance of the Starlight Theatre porch and the old mining ruins that draw visitors to the ghost town.

The property offers three distinct lodging options, each designed to sleep two guests comfortably and built around the quiet, star-filled desert that surrounds Terlingua. Casa Piedra is a stone-walled casita with a king bed and rock shower, Desert Pearl is a renovated trailer with a queen bed and private bathhouse, and Ghost House is a mirror-clad cabin with a queen bed and small kitchenette.

The setting suits couples, photographers, and outdoor travelers looking for a base close to the trails, the river, and the nightlife of the ghost town without the crowds of larger lodges.

Known For

Three architecturally distinct casitas including the stone-built Casa Piedra and Big Bend’s first mirror cabin, the Ghost House. Each has air conditioning and heat, outdoor showers or fire pits, and the fastest Wi-Fi in Terlingua. A Tesla charger is available at Desert Pearl.

Location

212 Ivey Road in Terlingua Ghost Town, a short walk from the Starlight Theatre and roughly a 25 minute drive to the Maverick entrance of Big Bend National Park.

Three Casitas, Three Distinct Stays

Casa Piedra is the stone casita on the property, with a king-size bed, a rock-walled indoor shower, and a private outdoor shower for rinsing off after a day on the trail. An outdoor fire pit with a steel grate sits just off the porch, set up for slow-cooked meals or evening fires under the desert sky.

Desert Pearl is a fully renovated trailer fitted with a queen bed and a private bathhouse about five feet from the front deck. It runs on a powerful air conditioner, has its own outdoor shower, and includes a Tesla charger for electric vehicle travelers passing through Terlingua.

Ghost House is a mirror-clad cabin, the first of its kind in the Big Bend area. It has a queen bed, a cascading shower, an outdoor fire pit, and a kitchenette with a mini-fridge, microwave, electric kettle, plates, and silverware. Each casita sleeps two guests comfortably.

Amenities and On-Site Comforts
Climate Control

Every casita is equipped with its own air conditioning and heat, a meaningful comfort in a region where summer days can reach triple digits and winter nights drop sharply.

Outdoor Showers and Fire Pits

Casa Piedra and Desert Pearl include private outdoor showers, a desert-stay feature guests often single out. Casa Piedra and Ghost House each have outdoor fire pits suited to evening fires or simple cooking.

Tesla Charger

A Tesla charger is available at the Desert Pearl casita, one of the few EV charging options in the Terlingua area.

Wi-Fi

The property runs what the owners describe as the fastest Wi-Fi in Terlingua, though connectivity in the broader desert area cannot be guaranteed at all times.
