The current owners have kept the same quiet, clean setting the motel has offered for decades, layering in a few subtle updates along the way. The property carries an Old West character, with simple rooms and a working ranch feel that sets it apart from the newer builds closer to Terlingua.
The motel offers 24 rooms and 17 RV sites, along with a seasonal outdoor pool for cooling off after a day outdoors. It sits about 12 miles from Study Butte and 15 miles from Big Bend National Park, far enough out to leave the desert dark at night but close enough for an easy drive in either direction.
It suits travelers who want a straightforward, no-frills base for park days and clear night skies, whether they arrive in a car, a truck and camper, or an RV.
